Simple questions simple awnsers ?
Hello all, how many guys and gals are running there 6.0 with out a muffler and a gutted kitty?straight piped if you will? the other part of the question is how many guys and gals notice white smoke, at idol,and start up. I was told that the reason my truck smokes is because im running without the muffler and a gutted cat. are your trucks smoking also, is this normal?any 6.0 techs want to chime in please do so.the smoke is getting very old. by the way that was the awnser the tech gave me today after there were no codes on the scan he did. he also told me to run cetane additive on my next fuel up. help please......Foolfor buying this ford.....

The no muffler no cat story is BS. Coolant burns white. Can you take it to another tech? What is your mileage? Sounds like you are leaking coolant somewhere; perhaps the EGR cooler. Get it diagnosed properly and fixed before 100k miles.

thanks for the reply, my milage is almost 80,000 i do alot of running, yes i can take it else where and already checked but they are on a a three week backup.theres only one diesel tech there. they put the computer on the truck and no codes were given.

I think you need a new tech.The only smoke I get is black until the turbo spools up then its a dark grey.Smell the exhaust if it stinks of fuel it will likely be an injector,coolant stinks a kind of nasty sweet rank smell.If you take the EGR valve out you can see in the intake if the cooler is leaking it will be wet and gummy in there.

UGA33, my truck smokes at idol,as well as running down the road,its enough you can see it if i scroll my right mirror down,as far as pressure on the degas cap there was some pressure behind it this morning.the coolant level is on the low mark. any more ideas ??? thanks FFF
