Hey all. I need a throttle linkage assembly. I need the one for the 53-55 (56?) six cylinder. It's the long one that goes across the dog house indentation in the firewall. I have the Y-block type, but I need the six cylinder type so I can retain a factory pedal assembly and hook it up to the Caterpillar diesel in my F-800. I cannot find one through any of the suppliers, they all offer the Y-block type. This is the type I need.
Yeah, I have that option, but didn't want to have to do that yet. I sent an e-mail to mid-fifty tosee if maybe they have one in their parts yard. I am trying to use as much original parts as possible to reduce the amount of extensive fab work. So far, I have only had to fab up my steering column, and have had to trim the frame pockets on the gravel pan. I guess if you consider drilling holes to bolt parts to in the frame fab work, then I have a lot more fab time than that, but I consider fabrication to be making parts out of other parts, or from stuff laying around. Oh wait, i do have to make a radiator crossmember. Dang it. I just want a stinking throttle arm.
I got your e-mail. I think I'd like to see the one you have any way, just in case. I also put a call into a guy on the advice of Mid-Fifty. he is going to look in his yard tomorrow for me. I figure, I should check with everyone that might have one, and if I can find the one I need, awesome. If I end up with the right one, I should be able to hook a linkage rod straight to the throttle valve on the Cat motor, and won't have to deal with a whole bunch of bending and fabricating of stuff to make it work, nor will I have to get a new throttle pedal assembly like the Lokar Eliminator. I would like the truck to look stock (well, as stock as possible) when finished. So far, so good.
I know you tried. I tried all the parts suppliers, except JobLot. Maybe I'll give them a call. Mid Fifty gave me a number to guy that has a yard of parts. He's gonna check for my tomorrow and let me know. He says he has a couple 53's that had flatheads. I don't care which one it is as long as it is the type that goes across the fire wall indent. I can make a rod to attach from there.
