Parking Brake Dash Light

Any ideas what controls the light in the dash that comes on when the parking brake has been applied? Mine works intermittently on my 2001 f-250 & I want to try & figure out if I can fix/clean something myself.

Welcome to FTE! That light is illuminated from the switch on the parking brake itself. If the pedal has a little play in it the light will fals on and off from time to time.

mine does the same thing! i just havnt delt with it yet...

me also. I have driven with the p-brake on without knowing it since the light was off.

Thanks for the welcomes & the quick responses.. Unfortunately I've done the same thing as Ponyboy.. which is why I need to get this fixed ASAP.. Thanks again guys !!

The rubber bumper on the brake pedal sometimes will have a piece break off and won't fully push the switch, then the light will stay on. If the wire on the switch is loose the light won't work at all.
