I think that it is called a "Right Angle Grease Coupler" Harbor Freight has them but you have to order them on line, #3495-OVGA. They run around $4-$5.00.

Here it is.

<center> RIGHT ANGLE GREASE COUPLER <!-- PHOTO --> <table border="0"> <tbody><tr> <td> </td> </tr> </tbody></table>
</center>
Reach out-of-the-way zerk fittings such as those on ball joints. Coupler fits standard grease guns. Poly seal fits snugly to zerk fitting.
1-5/8'' long, 1/8'' NPT

I think you would be better off replacing the straight zerk fitting with a 90 degree one.

I haven't had much luck using the adapter above. It seems to spew grease everywhere except into the fitting.
Maybe I have a cheap one. I actually I have 3 like that and none work.
Could be operator error too

Maybe this one would work but it's $60

CudaJim , I put the ball joints in last year and tried to put 90 degree zerks in but they were too close to the axle shafts, not enough room they hit,,,,, maybe I had the wrong zerks......

Yep, you need a low profile zerk. I had some on the shelf but can't tell ya where they came from .
You might get lucky and find them at a tractor supply store. You don't need much to clear the u-joint.
Mine looks very close but after many years I haven't see one get knocked
off. I see how it Could happen if I did a lot of off-road, mud playing.

Before I found the 90 fitting I have I would just remove the flat plug and install a 90,
grease and re-install the plug. It only took a couple more minutes per side.

Zerk fittings - Shop sales, stores & prices at TheFind.com[/quote]

The above fitting grease attachment requites you to replace the Zerk with a different style of grease fitting as well. They do look kind of cool. I wonder if they get plugged as often as the normal Zerk?

Yea, I noticed the stupidity of the strait zerts they stick in there sometimes.

You should be able to find a competent 45 or 90 to fit in there and keep the u-joint from hitting.
