for those of you that have experianced the nitto Terra grapplers are they any good? I'm undicided between these and bfgoodrich all terrians I gotta get something good in snow and ice before winter
1)how are they?
2)would you buy another set?
3)are they loud going down the highway?
4)how are they in snow and ice? (most important)
1). They are a good A/T tire, not crazy or anything
2) If I found them for the right price
3) Not really, they have a little noise, about what you would expect from an a/t
4) N/A, I live in FL
first off I would get the nitto over BFG's any day of the week. I just dont like the way BFG's wear. so
1) yes they are good tires I have them and love em
2) yes I would
3) I dont hear any road noise with the ones I have, but then again I drive a diesel
4) not sure yet but they do good in the mud
1) I have had BFGs and Goodyears and these are the best I have ever had.
2) I would definitely buy another set
3) not very loud at all
4) don't know because I live in FL but they do work very well at the boat ramps I use.
I have also put about 37,000 miles on mine and they appear to have about another 20,000-30,000 left. I have rotated and balanced mine every 5,000-7,000miles
I had a set before I bought my BFGs and I loved them...they are a great tire for the money. I had 44k on mine and they would have went well over 50k but I got a nail in the sidewall where it coul dnot be patched so I went ahead about a new set. I would have bought them again over the BFG if they would have had a 305/65r18 but they didn't.
So to sum up
1)Great
2)Yes if they had the size I wanted
3)I did not think they were loud at all
4)they were great. I live in Colorado and they never left me stuck and I always had traction on icey snow packed roads.
They are definately better than the BFGs and cheaper too. Have 14k on wifes and they still look brand new. I wish it would snow here in Florida so i could test them out on the snow. But they handle great in sand and mud.
I have heard both good and bad about them.... no first hand knowledge though. For my money, I will look to Michelin before any other tire manufacturer. I have had fantastic luck with their products over the years. I do not know what they make these days though, for these trucks.
I rotated mine every 5,000, always ran the recommended pressure...they only lasted 22,000 and they were gone. I will never run a Nitto again
Same thing happened to me with the Terra Grapplers. The Mudders lasted longer, but were really really REALLY noisy tires. (Mud tires though, what do you expect?!)The TG's on my F-150 went to hell in a handbasket even though I watch my tire pressures and make sure I rotate every 3-5K.
