A ranger with v6.. years 98-00
or
93 ford f-150 v6

i rebuild boats on the side. the boats will get no bigger than like 20-21ft

How far are you gonna be towing them? Any hills involved? Do the trailers have brakes?

93 F-150 would be a 4.9 I6 not a V-6. More suitable for towing than the Ranger.

If the 93's in good shape, I'd go with that. It's a little heavier and a little longer, so you should get a better tow out of it.

The old 300 Inline Six is a legendary engine. They make darn near the power of a 302 V8, and if you take care of them they last almost forever.

the 93 was actually rebuilt so ive decided to stay away from it.. im now looking at this one

http://www.bargainnews.com/viewad.cf...TheDealer=2364

i would only pull it about 20 miles for the longer trips. maybe more depending on how bored i get with the lakes. the trailer doesnt have brakes but the boat only weighs about 1500. and the other ways about 500 at this point. alot of it is highway but in my town theres a lot of hilly back roads.

that should tow it ok, you want the larger truck so that you are stable towing down the road.

That gonna depend on how steep/slick the ramp is, and the size of the boat you are trying to launch/load. When I had my 04' CC dually 4x2, I found out how easy it was to drag it down the ramp with the boat.

since it is 4x4 you should be ok, just be very aware so it does't get away from you.

Walk the ramp before you launch, to include taking off your shoes and checking for moss in case you need to go that deep. Ask people who've used the ramp if there's a drop-off at the end. Recover in 2nd gear if wheelspin is a problem, or get some cuties in bikinis to pile in the back! Try to go on a day when the ramp's not busy. And, unplug the trailer before you dunk 'er.
