Performance enhancements
Since installing a K&N Gen II FIPK low-restriction air intake and cat-back dual exhaust system, the performance increased marginally. I also was able to measure a slight improvement in MPG approximately .25 to .40 MPG. I average 14 in town and 15 hwy.
My question is what chip should I install to take advantage of the intake & exhaust setup? I live in MN and tow a 18' fiberglass boat in the summer, and a two-place snowmobile trailer in the winter. Would you still have to run high-octane fuel with the mods I made?
I am looking to improve HP & torque and MPG.
The truck is a 99 F150 Extended cab, 5.4L V-8, Automatic tranny, 3.73 limited slip axle, 4x4, Off-road package with 17" tires/wheels (Goodyear Wrangler tires). I also run the tire pressure at approximately 36-37 psi which seems to improve mileage about .5 MPG with little penalty in ride comfort.
