4x4 problem, question on 97?
I have a 97 Control trac with 101K I bought 2 years ago at 98K just for weekend use on the sand beaches. One problem started last year in 4x4 when going from park or fwd to rev there was a bump, bump then it went on it's way. This is unlike any universal joint problem then it's on it's way. Today it seemed worse, then after going back to auto the light stayed on till I shut off the truck? The truck labored in the sand bumping at times but still was it seems in 4x4 or else I'd still be there stuck! I tried it again in and out of 4 wheel on the pavement and it seemed OK. This truck drives 20 miles a week in sugar sand aired down to 16lbs dragging it's belly in sand. Both hubs have been replaced in the last 2 years and the tranny seems to work perfect on the road? How does this Control Trac work? Are the hubs operated by elec or vac? Most tucks stuck on the beach are hub problems! 35 years on the beach with manual hubs on a F250 and never a problem before. Any ideas?

aquanaut20, thanks but I can't get the link to work? Could you kinda fill me in a little as to the repair and or problem. If it's major I'll put my Super Duty back on the beach. Thanks
