I'm picking up a 1979 Ford F-100 custom tomorrow. I seen on the vin it was made in Canada. Is there a difference in Canada made truck and U.S trucks. Just thought I would ask b/c it looks the same to me. But here is the Vin # off of it. F10GCEC5812 other #'s are F1079= 2 wheel drive and 1979 but what is this # for T0531. It has a 302 V8 in it and it's a auto. Don't know if it is a C4 or a C6. I'm guessing a C6. The color of the truck is black, not sure if that is the original color but it's staying black anyway. It has no chrome on it as far as the side chrome that is. I would like to put some on it. I think it would set it off some. It has a old set of mag wheels on it that looks great I think. The truck is solid as they come. I will not have to do any body work to it at all. I'll just post some pics of it tomorrow of some before and after shots of it b/c it has 8yrs of dust on it. Right now it looks dark grey but once the dust comes off there is some black paint under there. Thanks for any help.
there shouldn't be any difference in Canada vs. US trucks.
here's the decoded things:
Your Model Year is 1979.
Truck Series: F100 2 Wheel Drive
Engine: V8 - 302cid, 2BBL carb, 154 HP
Assembly on: Ontario, Canada
the transmission could be either one. in the LMC catalog it says on the transmission you should be able to count the number of bolts on the pan. 11 bolts = C4. 17 bolts = C6.
Customs were the base level and didn't usually have anything on them, unless someone ordered the dealership to add stuff to it for them.
I went to get the truck today and the parking garage was closed. I'm going to go back earlier in the morning to see if I can catch them open. Man that really sucked b/c I was looking forward to cleaning on it all day today. Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow. Thanks for the help b/c thats what my truck is, is a custom. I would like to get some chrome for it though. I think they look great with the chrome on them. Thanks again
