Radiator Drain Question

Hello all!
My radiator drain blew out a few days ago and I've gone about fixing the drain. Problem is the drain **** I bought (HELP! brand 61127) doesn't seem to fit in the drain properly. I felt around inside the drain area and don't feel any threads which makes me think that there is another part that fits in the drain and the drain **** screws into it. Since I don't know what it looked like before, I'm kind of in the dark about the parts. Everyone I've talked to has suggested the HELP! part and my sleuthing through this website and the internet has not really given me much help in finding the other part, if it even exists.
I read the thread from 2005, "Radiator drain blew out? Help!!!," and that was the closest info I could find about the drain.
The truck is an '89, 4.9L, 5-speed, non-AC, and as far as I know the radiator is original.
Does anyone have any suggestions/help on the subject?
Thanks!
Cameron

I guess it doesn't need to be said, but radiator drain***** are not meant to blow out. If it did, then I might suspect that something else was damaged, and I would definitely think that something caused this to happen.

The help! parts that I've used in the past are of the absolute cheapest quality. They don't fit right, they break, they don't last, etc. I wouldn't ever trust one of their pieces to hold coolant in my radiator.

You know what happens if you lose all your coolant, right? Your engine overheats, and you might blow the headgasket, or crack the block or the head. None of which are cheap, easy fixes.

If it were my truck, I wouldn't cheap out on this. I would make darn sure that it gets fixed right, and if that means a new radiator then so be it. And I would also find out what caused the pressure to get so high to begin with.
