Choke ???

Have a couple questions about the choke setup on my 74' F-100 302 2-V 2100 carb. Carb was replaced with a reman in 05'.

First off the heat tube is crimped off. There no electrical connections I can see going to the choke. The choke is not working right I know.

I read about guys converting over to a manual choke and thats what I'd like to do. What parts do I need to convert over to a manual choke besides the cable and handle assembly to operate it.

Any info would be appreciated.

As I recall, the manual choke kit comes complete with all the connections needed for the install. The only thing you need to know is the placement of the ****/bracket under/in the dash. Stay tuned here as more answers will surely come along. (I want to convert mine also for my '79.)

Like HrdDrv said, there are complete kits you can get. You can get them from most parts stores; I always seem them in the "HELP!" brand stuff and they are usually under $20. They're pretty much a direct replacement. It comes with a replacement cap that connects the cable to the linkage in the carb, the cable, brackets and handle. All you have to do is drill through your firewall to run the cable, and mount the bracket to your dash. It's a pretty straightforward setup.

I found this this thread. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...ual-choke.html

Do I need a another Choke T-stat? The one on my truck has no place for linkage nor an electrical plug to hook up. I've read that many guys prefer a manual choke and since everything else is manual on my truck I figured I'd convert it. I ahve a machine shop at my disposal and can machine/fab just about anything its just automotive carbs arn't my thing. More familar with late model EFI.

As stated above, a manual choke kit should come with all the components to replace the choke spring/cap Assembly.
