Has anyone on this site ever seen or heard of a V-10 into a F-150 conversion? I never have but I imagine that would be quite a ride! Just wishing I guess.........
Do you think that they would use so much more fuel, than say a 5.4 , in a half-ton that it wouldn't be worth trying? Look at the mileage difference between the 4.6 and 5.4. I have friends that have F-250 with the V-10 and say that they are n't as bad as one would think. Just thinking abput the performance possibilities of such a combo........
4.6's seem to be decent for mileage. My buddy's 4.6L with an auto in his 99 supercrew F-150 gets the same mileage as my '99 4 banger, 5 speed tacoma which is 15-18 mpg. But then again tacomas seem to suck for mileage
My '01 expedition with the 5.4L was getting like 12-16 mph.
My 74 F-250 crew cab with the 360 got CRAPPY gas mileage, and from what I heard the other night when I talked to a guy with a 02 or so F-250 crew cab with the v10 his mileage SUCKS as well. And he says he babies the thing to get like 10 mpg.
To me it's not worth it to deal with that. The guy with the v10 told me he was looking at a cummins and I told him to go for it. That is what I am putting in my 74 crew cab because they have GOBS of H and torque and still get 18-21 mpg while towing a HOUSE
Should you would be worried about breaking things under the 150? Do you need a beefier suspension to transfer the power and torque of the V-10 to the road? Still I would like to see it done.
Might as well get a Lightning and be done with it. As for the 4.6, I had a 97 F150 with the 4.6 and 5-speed manual. Fun to drive and got 18.6 on the dot.
I put the supercharged 3.8L out of a 90's SuperCoupe Thunderbird in my ranger. I put a T5 tranny behind it and would surprise porche owners all day long

If you're doing a 4x2, that wouldn't be all that hard.
The 4R100 was used in the F150, wasn't it?
The 8.8" rear would handle it, as long as you didn't push it TOO hard with big tires.
Motor mounts are a no-brainer.
The only thing would be the overall length of the engine. Not sure you can squeeze it in there
The 4R100 was used in the F-150s IIRC behind the 5.4. I know for a fact that they were in the Expeditions. The 8.8 should be fine or you could put a 9.75 in there. Do it up! I wanna see pics!
