I would get one that has a NP205 transfer case with lock in lock out hubs if you are going to drive it on the road alot. I have one before that had a NP203 transfer case which is full-time fourwheel drive, which is a good t-case but it makes for worse gas milage since the front axle is pulling all the time.
NP205 tcase- gear driven
NP203 t case- chain driven
Available in 78 or 79. Like utfball68 said, pretty much all interchangeable.
according to the bronco history I once read I think the 79 also came with emissions crap and the 78 did not. Now I read it about 2 years ago and by now all the 79's would of had all there emissions stuff removed by now any way. Anyway both have the solid front axle compared to the crappy ttb (like my 83 has) love my bronco but the solid axle is way better.

I have stripped my 79 Bronco of all its emission equipment, lol. Until I get a 4barrel intake/carb I think I might put the egr valve back on, if I decide to buy one that works properly. Not trying to hijack but is there any performance gained with or without it?
I have nothing but problems with egr valves on vehicles from 75 to 85 I think that they are better taken off. on my bronco I took the egr off my 300 i6 and bolted a plate I fabed where it used to sit with black rtv as a gasket, never a problem since.
