i have a 86 ford f-150 with a 6 inch superlift and a 3 inch body lift and it had 4:56 gears with 36 inch buckshot's.. i have a inline 6 and i done had to replace the transmition mount 3 times ..... Do i need ladder bars or is there something wrong because i know i shouldn't be breaking transmition mounts ?? o yeah super sweet message board..... i should be a very active memember since i have 2 ford's and 1 mud truck... if you have anything on the transmition mount plzz tell me what is going on with this thing...
In Jeeps just the engine torque with the 256 I-6 is enough to snap motor and tranny mounts. But then again they are made out of tin foil Anyways there is alot of torque applied to the tranny mount in a stickshift with granny low, regardless of how little hrsepower the engine has. I assume it's a stick, cuz you have the 300. Does it break when you dump the clutch, or at WOT in the middle of the mud, or what? Try Energy Suspension, they might make a stronger polyurethane tranny mount for your application. The other thought I'm having is that the driveline angles are too steep and putting extra force on the tranny mounts. But if this is the case, you would probably be eating up U-joints also.
yeah it's seem's everytime i let off the clutch it brakes mount's so i know something aint right. i' going tomarrow and check the motor mount's to see if one of them are broke. thanx about the engery supeion i'm going to go check that out. i haven't ripped no u-jiont's out yet. i'm going to try to run this one and see what happen's ... thanx for reply
