I change my oil/filters, fuel filters and the air filter...but otherwise am not a mechanic. I have had issues with brief loss of power on steeper climbs, and did throw a 401 code after the last incident. Ford would not work on it under warranty, even with the EGR valve being replaced 8k miles ago under warranty. Anywho, I decided to get some help from my shadetree mechanic, showed him the excellent pics on here about how to pull the EGR valve and clean it. We made an "egr valve puller thingamajig" and it worked great, he kept trying his methods to pull it and finally gave up.
My questions are about the O rings and the gasket...do you guys who clean this valve on a regular basis replace those at some interval?
Another question, do you spray crud remover stuff down into the throat of the valve? We did that, covered the opening and started it up, it blew out some crud and puffed white for a minute, and runs fine now.
Thanks for your help and advice, much appreciated.
