? about slotted rotors??

Hey all. I am not a brake master I want to ask a question also. I was planning on buying Cross-Drilled and Slotted rotors for my Excursion. I read the other day, though, that if you are not driving a high performance vehicle in high performance conditions you are defeating the purpose of the Slots in the rotor. I was reading that if you use the slotted rotors in a less than high performance situation it will cause the Slots to actually slice your pads making the life dramatically shorter. Thanks for any responses.

Lloyd

I turn rotors at the part store. I have had people complain about shorter life with cheap box brakes. the slots and cross drill are to reduce heat, so the rotors don't warp. plus better long term braking on hills, loaded, or races apps. But you also have to have the right pads. A serivce dudy brake pad and the sloted rotors should do real nice on your truck.

One more thing most parts stores can not trun drilled or slotted rotors. because we use a bit to cut the rotors. you have to use a flat stone on them as not to hang up in the holes

All the parts books are out in the shop so no part #s

I like the wagner brand we sell. If you do alot of towing I would get the wagner service duty pads. Or the new wagner egde pads they are the new cats mewo.
