buying a used 5.4l engine

I'm looking at buying a used 5.4l engine out of a 1998 Lincoln Navigator. I have a 1999 5.4l f-250 4x4 light duty with a knock. (147k miles) It is the "L" vin. Does anyone know if it would be a direct swap with mine? I don't know the vin of the navigator but it only has 68k miles on it. Thanks for the help.

That first year Navi had 2V engines IIRC BUT you will be losing 30hp since it will be an NPI engine.

hey I have a 99 f250 LD as well. If you figure out what models you can choose from to do the swap and retain the same HP let me know. It seems that there is no rhyme or reason as to what models to choose from.

At first I wanted a late model engine so I could get some extra HP like from the 3V engines. ... Well then I found that I cant do that because of wireing and computer issues.

Then I see from the response to your question that I cant even use the older navi engines beacause ill lose power.

goog grief.

5.4L PI engines were used from '99-'03 in F150's and Expeditions as well as F150 7700's (same as F250LD) An easier way to look at it is NPI 5.4L's only came in '97 and '98 models.

Most likely no. If you want the most direct swappable engine, look for one of the same year and model of your truck.
