Ford Sept Truck Sales

DOWN 39%. OUCH. How many 08' F-150's still on dealers lots? I don't envy Ford's top brass right now for it's a sure bet 09' sales are going to be weak for the forseeable future with the current market conditions. Possible 09' F-150 cash incentives BEFORE they're even on the dealers lots?

There is a 6K rebate right now on 08 trucks in my area and Im talking about a stripped down XL. The nicer trucks may even have more off I dont know. I see the 09's coming with rebates as well. Not as much but trucks are not selling. It will be interesting to see how the other trucks sold.

F-150 sales were DOWN for September 41%. GM trucks sales were DOWN 19%. Why the percentage disparity? I have NO idea. The rebates were about the same across the board.

GM's employee pricing had something to do with that. Also the GM was new in 2007. Ford's truck is much older. This will all change in 2009 as the new F-150 comes out and GM has postponed redesigning their truck indefinitely.

Ford's selldown is ahead of schedule.

In addition to Employee Pricing...GM has been advertising heavily the fact that their trucks are more fuel efficient than the competition.

In my area they are advertising $7500.00 for F-150 and SD's. The lots are covered with SD's right now, however, fewer F-150's than before.

The funny thing is, Focus's are harder to find.

I seen a 2008 Silverado 3500 HD 4x4 diesel $24,787 . That's why they are selling. They are practically giving them away.

I still wouldn't pay that much for the Silverado.

Sounds like a great deal to me if it is true. That means you can keep it for 5 years and have less then 5K of deprication a year. Show me another truck that can do that. Even if it's worth zero at the end your ahead. If it's worth 5 grand you've paid it down in 4 years. That isn't bad. I drive vehicles based on cost and love it, I look at overall cost and at 24K that's a no brainer.

If I drove vehicles based on cost, I'd drive Hyundia's or KIA's or some other car that has an extensive warranty program. But, I drive Fords because they are well built and if properly maintained they will last as long as anything that Japan has on the roads today for similar overall costs. To me, that''s a no brainer.

I would never buy something on cost alone. I have always found that when i spend less i always end up thinking to my self why didnt i just buy the one i really wanted in the first place instead of being disapointed with my purchase then either sell what ever i bought and buy the one i really wanted which long term costs me more money or end up being stuck with something i really didnt want because i thought i would get something cheaper because it would save me a some cash.

^^^ I guess reading comprehension isn't a requirement for membership. OVERALL cost, read the last line of my post. GM comes w/ a 100K mile 5 year PT warranty. I wouldn't drive a Hyundi since they don't make a truck and they maynot be the best overall value (cost/resale). It's common economics. For me it's very easy since I get paid to drive whatever I want (as long as it's full size) and gas is free. So I look only at cost of ownership over X # of years. Sometimes I trade out at 2 years and sometimes 4. It depends on how much it costs me to run a vehicle. BTW I'm a fleet buyer so I'm looking at over 14K off invoice on superduties and close to that on F-150s.

I guess arrogance or lack of humor describes your personality trait. You can make a point without the insulting comments. If you looked at my post of not paying 24K for a Chevy, you'll notice an emoticon behind laughing, in other words a joke. As a personal consumer, I'm a ford loyalist, you may or may not be, that's ok, I don't really care.
