My 85 f150 with a 302 efi will start right up when cold, but when it is warm (after driving it for awhile), it does not like to start back up. It usually just keeps cranking for a long while. Is it the coil?
Could be a lot of things. Do you hear the fuel pumps cycle on the warm start? If it does it would be a good idea to check the fuel presure at the rail, your truck has both an in-tank low pressure pump and and external high pressure pump, if either of these are not startiing up right away you won't get full pressure and the motor won't light very quickly.
On the multi-port EFI, I have seen heat soaked idle air control valves stick and cause this. If it is starting fine cold, the pressure regulator is probably OK and holding pressure. Like Conanski says it would be a good idea to check fuel pressure and make sure there is enough residual pressure there when warm before starting.

i havent tried to hear the fuel pump yet, Well i havent just held the key until it starts...i gave it VERY little gas and it would fire. I have heard that it may be the coil, or plugs?

Ok, thanks!
I will check it when i get it out in the spring, unless i figure out it is something else.
BTW, I highly doubt it is the coil or plugs if it runs fine after it starts. With a bad coil or plugs the engine breaks up (misses) pretty good when you rev it or put it under load.

Well i do need pugs...but i just heard that it may be the coil. So, if i have little fuel pressure, what? will i need a new pump?
Maybe, or could be clogged fuel filter. But realistically if it runs fine that is probably all OK. From my experience, your starting problem is usually either a failing coolant temperature sensor or sticky IAC valve.

What he said but you also might try holding the throttle on the floor when it is warm and see if it starts OK.
Also check the coils plug I have seen these plugs give a lot of problems.

If i give it a little bit of gas, it will fire, but will run like crap until i get it movin.

I think you need to read your codes and see what is going on. Post the codes back and we should able to hel some more.
