Well Dealer called today, said my truck will be ready to pick up in the morning!! Great! its been in the shop over 2 weeks!
After Replacing. -New Short Block, 2 new heads, injectors, powersteering pump, numerous seals, gaskets. It should be good to go for a long stretch. They wouldnt put head studs in no matter what i asked them, they told me that when torqued right they will be fine...... Oh well it was a $12,000. touch before the labour was added on, and for me $100. plus tax WOW im glad i purchased extended warranty when i bought this truck and ill be glad to drive it again after driving my 97 stone wagon dodge 2500.
Wow, they did all that? Did they send a rep out from Ford to examine the engine and do some digging to see if you had any modification done to it? I had mine replaced by Ford and they only did the block, and 1 head. They said if they tried to replace the other head it would be over the cost limit and raise red flags for Ford to send a rep out. And since my truck was tuned they didn't want to kill my warranty.
No that was the weird thing about it? they told me the repair limit was $9200. and after that they just put the complete refurbished engine from ford in? so all i know is I talked to the Tech and he told me all about it and how this is the 3rd or 4th 2005 hed done in the last 45 days and that all the bolts have been torqued to spec along with new gaskets orings all that stuff, so sounds like he takes pride in what he does!
other than that i had a rep come out when the tranny went out 10,000 kms before this and gave the ok for that, so i have had good luck with this dealership!!
nice man. hopefully this engine last longer than your first one did.
but this is what kind of scares me about these 6.0's, its like when things go wrong its insane how much they cost to fix. an also the service department doesn't even blink when they tell you its going to cost $12,000 to fix. your super lucky you had the extended warranty. almost everything in my truck busted like 100 miles after warranty was over and Ford already fixed "everything that was wrong" 500 miles before i reached 100k miles. i was all stoked thinking how lucky i was getting a new turbo and egr cooler. but then right after warranty was up heads blew/cracked, injectors went out, etc. all on my dime because they said it was all checked and running great up until 100k miles.
