1997 F150 4x4
I am having trouble getting some info, maybe you guys can help me. I have a 97 F150 ext. cab 4X4 w/ the 4.6 and auto trans, 3.55 gears. I am in search of horsepower/torque numbers and towing capacity numbers. I am currently having a new crate motor installed due to a bad head/head gasket situation. I occasionally pull a 3 horse trailer which weighs 4-5k loaded. Any help is appreciated.

Off the top of my head hp is around 210 and tq is around 290. 4-5K is right at your tow capacity for that configuration. If you have the owners manual it will break that down for you though.
Book claims 6600 trailer weight is the capacity for that configuration but personally think that is too heavy for a 4.6L F150.
