idle surging

hi i bought a 2003 7.3l Auto about a month ago and the idle just recently started rising and dropping about 25 rpm and its not much but its plain annoying. ive tried unplugging the icp, it has new oil, fuel filter, HPOP, and i was doing some searching and found something on a EBPV what is this and could it be doing something to cause this? also i seem to be having a loss of power ever since this started, and i cant even get a small puff of black smoke anymore. if anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated thanks.

How's your air filter? What kind of air filter do you have? You can also check your IC boots to make sure they're snug.

25 rpm's isn't much. What are you using to determine it's only 25? Does your truck have the new gray CPS in it? Some trucks don't like the gray CPS as much as others.

thanks for the website ill have to try that tomorrow. and the air filter is brand new its a air filter the dealership just put in when they changed the oil a couple of days ago. and well im guessing its about 25 to 50 because the tach is jumping just slightly but you can feel the surge of the motor when it does it.

Is the ICP leaking oil under the connector ?..

If not , may have some junk in the IPR ,,or it may just be sticking ,,

Need a scanner capable of reading ICP pressures ,,& IPR DC % ..

BTW ,,,does it happen warm & cold ?...

the ipr has 20k on it i guess... found some reciepts so that shouldnt be the problem. the icp doesnt have oil in it. i havent had time to clean the ebp tube. but i have noticed that it takes a few seconds when you start to idle before it starts to jump. and it seems more noticeable when its cold outside.

May need a scanner to read EOT as it compares to ambient air temp ,,,

Then you can watch ICP & IPR % at the same time
