Cuda_Jim: Brand new. BTW, is there a rough measurement that I can make to see if Thermostat is long/short? I have the last one I replaced the other week.

Here is the length of the 203 thermostat that I've not yet installed. Remember I have a Ford 96/97 water pump and not the IH earlier models.

Jim H : Thanks for that. About 1 3/4" . Will check on it tomorrow first thing. Sure hope I have a Ford pump, I'd be pretty browned off if they put the wrong pump in.

Well, I phoned the Ford dealer this am. Got into a big argument about right thermostat. I finally talked them into visiting the dieselsite.com that Cuda_Jim so thoughtfully posted. They phoned me back about 10min later, all apologetic, "Sorry we did not know about this" will have one for you tomorrow am. Apparently they think that all 7.3's are still International and only stock parts for such. Makes me wonder how many diesels have been toasted by this approach.

Ford still has a long stem T stat ,, if you ask for a 203 from them ,IIRC, you will always get a short stem ...

either foed or international ,,I don't remember which (easter egg thing )....

Got a message from dieselsite.com. I'm not sure how to post this for benefit to all.

I’m not sure about the stant part numbers.

The short stem stat (wrong one for your truck) measures about 1.25” from disc to disc. The long stem is about 1.75-2.00” depending on how you measure it.
