bad pcm,s or underlying problem

my dad's truck died on him a while back while he was driving. when trying turn the motor over it cranks fine, has fuel pressure, but never cranks up. the odometer has staight dashs across. we took it to the dealership and they said the pcm was dead. they installed a new one and the truck ran great for about 10 miles untill it died on the way home from the dealership. took it back and they installed and programed another pcm. ran fine again. this time we told the dealership to go drive it around for a while to test it out. guess what, it died on them after 15 miles. trucks been in the shop for 2 months now. is there something that could be shorting out the pcm? by the way the ruck is a 99 F-250LD 4.6 automatic trans. this is getting to the point that the dealership is sending off the pcm to get diagnosed cause they dont know what is shorting it out.

if you have a vref wire that is shorted to ground the pcm will completely quite and not power up. This might not happen untill the engine warms up and completes the ground. on the other hand if the odometer is dashed, then you may not have a pcm problem but a pcm to IC short. If they put a new pcm in and it did the excact same thing then i would highly doubt another will fix the problem. The definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.
