Which Transfer Case?

I'm planning to convert my 93 F150 from 2WD to 4WD and am wondering which T-case would be the best to use. I haven't been able to find much information on the reliability and durability of the factory Borg-Warner 1356, so I'm kind of hesitent going that route. I also would like a T-case that has (or can be converted to) fixed yoke's so I can utilize CV-joint driveshafts. Any suggestions/recommendations?

Which Transfer Case?

I would also say the 205, nothin' stronger but you will give up some low range, 1.96-1 with the 205, the BW's, while I haven't really heard much, has a lower "low" range, in the 2.7-1 area. Might want to check with some of the "newer" 250 and 350's 4x's to see what they run-might be an easier swap and one would think that if it holds up to an F-350 it would be plenty strong for you and might also make mounting easier if from around the same year as yours, crossmembers, frame mounting brackets, ect. Good luck with your conversion!

Which Transfer Case?

Transfer cases out of 1980-1996 Broncos have fixed output shafts. Find one with the same transmission you have already joined to the transfer case. Then you just gotta come up with the driveshafts and it will be a 100% bolt-in proposition. But then again these are only the BW 1345, 1356, and NP208, none of which are as strong as the NP205. FWIW these transfer cases were used in all Ford Broncos and fullsize trucks, F150-F350, if that makes you feel any better. Only diff is that all the trucks I have seen use a rear slip yoke.
