Been trolling the forums, but couldn't find much information. I'm looking at a used E-250, 85k miles. Seems to run great, but wondering what experience people have had with these vans (i.e. transmission issues, engines, etc.).
I have an 2002 E150 with the 5.4L motor in it. The van now has 120K miles on it and we have NEVER had this van back to the dealer for warranty work. And, it has never been in the shop for anything after the warranty ran out. This has absolutely been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.
The downside. The vans tend to be hard on brakes and rotors. When the rotors warp, don't bother turning them. Instead, replace them with the best new ones that you can find.
If I was buying that van, I would do 2 things:
1) Change the tranny fluid as noted here in the tech notes section.
2) Change the spark plugs. Make sure you use a torque wrench when you put the new ones in.
Other than that, it should be a very reliable truck.
