Steering Fluid

So i got a SD a few months ago (05 F350 PSD KR 4x4) and i was looking around th eengine bay this weekend and it seems like the steering fluid might be a little low: i mean the stick was barely getting wet. What should be the optimal level? and just any type will do it? or i need a specific steering fluid?

Should be a min and max level on the dipstick.

Owner's manual calls for ATF to be used.

It's 3-4years old now, you might as well flush the system and replace all of the fluid.
