I am going to go from 15" rims on my 92 F150 to 16" rims when I get new tires. Can I just make this transition or do I need to change any settings or watch out for anything?
I am thinking this should be straight forward but thought I would ask just to make sure.
IF the overall diameter of the tire/wheel combo is different than the stock combo then the speedo will be off and your final drive ratio will be different. If the difference isn't hugh then it may not even be noticable, how well the truck handles it depends upon the motor and existing gearing. Correcting the speedo for a tire change isn't difficult, older trucks require a drive cable gear change, while newer trucks with electronic trannys have what's known as a PSOM that can be recalibrated.. Na you will be fine as long as your stickin with close to stock size tire. If you do go bigger tires ur speedo could be off a few mph. When I went from stock 235/85/16 to 36x12.5x16.5 mine is off like 5-10mph dependin on what speed and gear im in. wierd.
ya, forgot to mention that I have BFG 33x12.5x15 on there now and just want to go to a 16" rim (33x12.5x16). My speedo has been off ever since I changed from stock...MANY years ago. I am not so concerned about that and can correct that relatively easily.
