Rear Axles
I 've got my choice of a Dana 60 or Ford 10.25 rear axle. What are the pros and cons for either one. It will be going in a 1978 Bronco that I'm building for fun. 460,C-6,NP205 and will be running 40 or 44 inch Boggers. Any help will be appreciated.

You cant go wrong with either one. The 10.25 has a bigger ring gear than the Dana 60 but I think thats about it. Dont both have 35-spline 1.5 inch diameter shafts. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). One thing to consider is that the 10.25 only has gears down to 4.56 and then the next lowest is 7.17. You might want to call somewhere to double check that becaues maybe someone makes like a 4.88 or 5.13 by now but I haven't heard of it. The Dana 60 has lots of ratios available for it. Many people run 44's with these axles and dont break anything. Also, I believe the Dana 60's spring perches line right up for your Bronco. I don't know about the 10.25 so you might want to check that if you haven't. I'm curious, what are you going to do for the front axle?

The 10.25 is closer to a Dana 70 in strength but has much more limited options as far as gear ratios (as was noted above) than the Dana 60 and also has much more limited options in traction control devices (limited slips and lockers).
