well, on the last full weekend of October my town has it's festival - Czhilispiel. last year was the first year I had my truck. so we washed and polished it for the car and truck show. I got 3rd place last year (I think it was outta 3, but you don't need to know that!) I'm looking forward to that coming up pretty soon.
today in the morning I pulled up to a stop sign with the clutch pushed in and I noticed that my engine wasn't idling like it always does. I thought...."I just got the carb rebuilt so it should be fine." now when I let off the gas pedal it kinda pops/backfires real loud. dad drove it and he thinks it's running rich; I hope that's it.
well awhile ago I was browsing through the galleries and I found something. when I picked my forum name I thought it was cool cause nobody would have the same name as me; and it was orignal......1979 Ford Bronco 4x4 - My second old Ford
click on the link. scroll to the bottom of the comments. obviously somebody was dr-dirt before me.... I guess he doesn't come onto the forums cause I've never seen him here.

hey why is my username on there? i have never seen that page before?????
Hey Dirt - backfiring\popping when you let off the gas is usually indicitave of a manifold vacuum leak. Very rarely does a rich condition have anything to do with a backfire. If your truck is running rich, that's an unrelated issue. Try spraying around different parts of the engine while it is idling with carb cleaner spray, and listen for a jump in idle speed. That indicates a leak. Start with the carburetor base; it's possible the gasket did not seal.
The reason your name shows up on that link is because you pasted the link with a comment command in the address. That means that anyone who clicks that link will post "nice Bronco you picked up." It happened to me too. It's going to happen to anyone who clicks it.
well it's been running fine since we got it done about 5 weeks ago. today was the first time this has come up. I thought it was maybe flooded. I cut off the key and went inside for about 30 minutes. came back outside and had to drive it to church and it went fine; turned it off. started it back up when coming out of church (an hour later) and it started doing the same stuff (when started again it was 1 pump to close the choke).
774by4, I have no idea how your name got on there.
if you notice, everytime one of the people that clicked on that link a comment is automatically put in their name. but they're all the same comment that I put.

See the bottom of my post as to why. It's because the link has a command command in it...
What are you bumping this thread for? I already told you what to check, and you haven't done it yet. If you don't follow the steps that myself or other people here suggest to you, we can't help you. I'll say it again; check for vacuum leaks and post your results. That's cool if you'd like other opinions too, but you shouldn't discount any advice. At least follow up.
