[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Dec-01 AT 04:29 PM (EST)]Okay went to the local 4x4in shop yesterday and broke down and bought a steering stabilizer for my 1986 F150 4x4 with the IFS, should be in on Tuesday or Wednesday! The shock is a rancho 5000. Now how exactly do I put it on? The owner told me that one side has to be a bit higher then the other, which side? Thanks for all of the input.
I put a dual stabilizer on my 82 F150. the easiest way to install it is put it together stretch the stabilizer out aprox 3" and hold the bracket to the frame on the passenger side and mark where you will need to drill the hole for the frame bracket when done bolt the frame bracket and install the rest of the stablizer to the steering and when finshed make sure it doesn't bind yes the passenger frame bracket will be higher than the steering side but it does work make sure you do not hit your transmission lines if you have an automatic trans. Good luck I hope this helped out
Yes that did help, I am going to have to have the stabilizer infront of me and be under the truck to figure it out but thanks. You wouldn't happen to have a close up picture of it would you? That would help even more. Thanks again.
I posted some pictures of my steering stabilizer install for ya in my gallery. Let me know if you want some more in depth ones. It installed in like 10 minutes. I used a skyjacker kit for what its worth and it works like a dream
