With apologies to Yule Brenner . I got the engine out of my 86 Ranger for frame painting, new cab. I went to replace a motor mount on passenger side, and after doing so, said "I put that in upside down! d'oh" Checked the Autozone picture and both mounts show with the rubber cone facing up. Upon dissasembling the mount, I find it has a little peg next to the threaded stud that will only allow you to put it in "upside down" if you want align the peg with the hole in the bracket. Any comments, experiences? Any rags, any bottles, any bones? Thanks for reading.
I had the same issues 2 years ago when I pulled the 2.3L in my 88'. When I purchased the "OEM replacement" mounts from Advance Auto Parts I ran into the same little peg issue too.
I scratched my head for a min, called the parts store, and there were no other #s listed, I was like, WTH! So I just decided to make it fit. Drill a hole in the bracket to re-locate the peg. Bolt it in, drink a beer, and be done with it.
