4x4 not engaging

my four wheel drive is not engaging. i have the stock auto hubs yet in my 95 f-150 with the lever shift bw 1356 t case. I shifted into 4 low and backed up about thirty feet and after shifting back into drive the rear tires still only spin. Are my hubs shot or does anyone have any other ideas. Thanks.

Couple of easy things to check to see what's working. First mark your front driveshaft. Now put your truck in 4wd and travel a few feet. Get out and see if your front driveshaft has turned. If it has then your transfer case works. While it's in 4wd but the truck is off jack up your front tires one at a time and see if when you turn your wheel if the driveshaft turns. If it does then everything's OK. If not then your hubs are shot or need maintenance. Make sure you check both tires because one may be bad but not the other.

It was the hubs. I pulled them off the day i originaly posted and the stock auto hubs were in about 20 pieces. I guess thats what happens with full throtle 4 low attempts at crawling snowpiles. Oh well, i replaced them with warn premiums and everythings working great. Thanks for the help anyhow.
