Got it running today

I was going to add this to the thread I started the other day but can't find it. Don't know what happened to it so I will start another.

I got my new 59 F-100 home last week and managed to get the clutch and brake master cyls and clutch slave rebuilt during the week.
Today I got the air bled out of both and discovered that the clutch disc is stuck to the flywheel. I took the flywheel cover off and with a helper holding the pedal down I managed to work a putty knife between the disc and flywheel and get it loose.
With a good bttery the engine cranked over so I primed the carb with little gas and cranked ot over a few times. Nothing, not even a cough. Pulled the points out and dressed the contacts and cleaned them and back together and try again. This time it fired off and ran for a few seconds. The fuel tank and fuel line are both in pretty bad shape so I hooked a line from the pump to a seperate gas container and primed it and started it again and with a little coaxing managed to keep it running. A little work on the temporary fuel tank and it is time for a trial run. Much to my surprise the clutch worked as smooth as a new one. I can't say the same for the brakes though. I think the wheel cyls must be stuck. It feels like have some braking on one wheel but even it isn't releasing completely. I guess the next step is to pull all the drums and redo or replace all the wheel cyls and check out the shoes and hardware.
It has been a fun day. The generator even works and the engine has good oil press and sounds great. Ran it long enough to get it warmed up on the temp guage and found no surprises with the engine. Can't wait to get the brakes working and give it a spin.
I just read back over this and can't believe it took most of the day. I guess I did spend some time cleaning and blowing out all of the nooks and crannies in the cab and under the hood.

Big congrats to ya. BTW, I got a hold of the seller in KS, and the BBW '59 is sold. Oh well, next time.

I started a gallery for it this morning and put in a few pics. More to come when there is something worth while to add.
I had a pic posted in my first thread about it but it seems to have disappeared.

Going to start on the brakes today and see what is needed for parts.

Havi. Just keep on the track and you will find one. I'll yell if I came across something. I think that BBW on the Frige's is a neat feature but must be pretty scarce.

Got the brakes working and made a few laps around the parking lot.
Maybe this will be a link to a short video. Sometimes things don't come out like I expect with this computer. Old trucks are much easier.
