I forgot to tell you guy's, but when I ordered my 09. The only way you can get a 4:10 gear is with the torsion on the FX4 OFF/ROAD. The standard 4x4 gear is now a 3:73. My saleslady copied the 09 ranger pages from the master order book for me as the 09 ranger promo lit isn't out yet. If your like me and like to hit the trails, 4:10's are important, more so as I run a little bit bigger tire. I run a BFG 265/75-16 AT KO, which is about a 32/10.50. It worked out for me as I wanted the FX4 OFF/ROAD and torsion. The up side is the 3:73 should do a little better on gas. The 3 gears now offered on the ranger for 09 are 3:54, 3:73-open or lsd and the 4:10 torsion. I thought some of you might be interested. The 3:73 is the standard 4x4 gear now.

I'm not sure, as I didn't really get into that part. I know it had to do with a payload package on the 4 cylinder that got you the 4:10. I'll check my book when I get back to the house and see if I can get you a for sure answer, but I'm thinking probobly as it would make good sense.

I just read the 09 ranger order book. It said payload package #2 is nolonger available on 2-wheel drive reg-cab models. Payload package #2 is available on supercab 4x2 and 4x4 models equiped with 4.0 engine. "Sorry", it looks like 4:10's is a 4.0 option and only on the FX4 the best I can tell. They didn't specify what ratio was on the payload package #2 on anything else, so I'm guessing it's 3:73's. Call your dealer to be sure as I'm no expert at reading these books or codes, but believe I have some what of a handle on it, but make sure so I don't look like a total moron!!!
