I have a question in regards to gear ratio, I own a 93 f150 with 35's
on it, 6" lift, and I would like to change my gears to 4.56 or 4.11
but, would like to know the pros and cons of both,as this truck is my daily driver, would gas mileage go up dramaticly, with the 4.56 verses
the 4.11, I know performance should be great with the 4.56 with 35's
but, since this truck is mostly used on the road and not offroad, also its an automatic e40d, would my tranny be effected in any way,
any info would surely be appreciated..
your right about the performance thing, the 4.56 would do wonders off road but your gas mileage will go down and if yours is a daily driver i would just get 4.10 gears installed they'll move the truck very good not quite as good as the 4.56's but youll still be able to tell a difference in everything.
I'd say 4.56 would be a good choice. You stated that you have an overdrive trans. I think this would offset the difference between 4.11 and 4.56 at highway speeds and give you a little better performance for when you go offroad.
I put 4.10's in my Bronco. It's OK But I can really feel the weight of those tires. If I where to do it again I would go with the 4.56's. With the OD trans I don't think it will hurt that much.
