Thanks!!!!
In April 2008 I purchased, through auction, a 1994 Turbo Diesel F-250 4x4 with 190,000 miles on it. I got rid of the 97' f-150 because I needed something with a little more ummph for pulling a 2 horse trailer around western VA. I sold the f-150 for $6000 and paid $ 6300 for the diesel f-250. About an even swap which is what I was trying to do. Needless to say when I got the F-250 home and looked at it closely I started finding all kinds of things wrong with it. Now I consider myself fairly mechanically inclined and have rebuilt/refurbished a handful of cars in my time(all fords), but I have never worked on a diesel before. The list of things I have replaced or repaired over the last 5 months is way too long to go into. Whenever I had a question though, I new I could do a search on this forum and find folks who had the same problem in the past and got good solid information from the experts out there. I've learned the difference between a turbo diesel and a powerstroke. Even though the turbo diesel is a 'One Year Wonder' I've gotten very attached to it and am not sure I'd want the more complicated Powerstroke.(even though more power would be nice) With a 16mm wrench I can now reprime the fuel system in less than 10 minutes. I learned that bathing in diesel fuel will irrate the skin when I had to replace the rear tank that was leaking. Most recently the tranmission, an E4OD, was acting up and going into 'limp mode'. Based on the code the trans shop kept saying that the TPS was 'out of range'. They'd readjust and the problem would come back in a day or two. Three times I had the shop do this with out a fix. So I hit this forum looking for some help. I found a thread where someone was having the same problem and one of the replies was just replace the MLPS(nuetral safety swith). Wish I remembered who so I could give you credit. So, desperate for a fix, I puchased a new MLPS for $36 and replaced the switch. What you Know, the problem is fixed. I know I've been long winded but I want to let everyone out there who has shared their knowledge with us 'newbies' that their help is greatly apreciated. Thanks from turbo diesel OBS driving convertee.
