Just the timing of it is bad. Yes the Kijiji is the 83 I was wrong by 0ne year.
To try and fix the door now with the temps below 16. are not a good combination for material that is needed to fix the door. Yes the damage is not bad. They would still require a structural inspection alomng with a mechanical inspection. I have played my option that will be happening.
1. If they ok the repair. get it done at a good shop. Then I don't have to worry about doing it. But then I will have a shiny new paint door and the rest of the truck paint peeled and dull.
2. Take the money and fix it myself next spring. Problem now is SGI only give less than 50%. At one time you got 80% of the damage costs. It usually gave enough to fix the damage and some which I would put to more paint or my pocket. Now less than 50% does not cover enough to pay for the parts and paint.
3. If written off buy back and fix and have inspected. Then it will need a new paint job and the rust that is started will need to be repaired. WHich is not too bad.
4. If written off. and they give me a good pay out I may let it go and use the money to pay down a credit cards and fix my 85 truck some more by getting new springs and such. or my 78.
Sadly with my debt load number 4 is very intising. I rather do number 3.
i say do whatever makes you most comfortable. sometimes, i know for me, paying off debts is a better feeling than owning a ford truck. might get flamed for that, but being debt free is an awesome feeling.
Other than for our home or the business I never did go into any debt.
Both have been paid for a long time and for toys it`s cash on the dash only since most things deprecate alot faster than you can pay them off and retirement investments always were more important to us.
I dont mind debt at a manageable level - it seems to be required for business growth during tight cash flow times. Sometimes some depreciation and interest are better than taxation but thats a delicate balance. A bunch of personal debt is not my cup of tea! My only personal debt has ever been a vehicle payment - all other toys, etc are cash only or wait!
Some people sure go all out with the personal debt. I see this alot in the oil patch, guys go and lease a brand new truck, finance quads and sleds and you name it, right till they cant afford anything else, then play like they are really well off.
Yeah Id say 3 or 4 well I must say that is pretty dumb they only cover 50% of the costs and you have to have an inspection over such minor damage thats how they get more money outta of ya
Yes they have us over a barrel since they have the monopoly on car insurance.
Were stuck with it., But also our insurance may suck at times, but our rates and coverage is still better than any other provinces. You may find cheaper coverage, but they have hidden clauses that say if this type of damage happens your not covered. I know someone in Alta who is a cop and his truck was vandalised. The coverage he got did not cover the vandalism, so he had to pay for his glass and paint from key scratches. These other provinces you pay more the extras.
Here we have where you buy a package policy so your deductable is lower so it will cover glass and smaller damages you may incurr.
I cant take it away from the package policies. We have one on our civic, and it covers everything. Sandi had to get that though, for the few times she takes kids here or there, but its an added bonus since we live on gravel.
The vehicle inspection are killing a lot of old tin. Guys can get the body/structural to pass, but they have a hard time with mechanical now. No one can say the same thing needs to pass from shop to shop.
I also find that with structural. They do that to try and get you pay them for extra unnessary work. There is no governing body checking up on these shops. So SGi just lets them get away with it. What do they care they get more money from us for paying over $200 for the inspections.
