No Spark

No Spark
at all. 88 f150 300 inline 6
Motor was purring like a kitten and I was just topping off the coolent and the motor quit just like someone turned off a switch.
I checked for spark and there is none anywere.
question: will the coil spark if the ingition modual goes bad. this is a brand new ing. modual but I could have gotten a bad one I geuss.
anyway I took the wire off the coil and no spark. I checked for spark at the plugs with everything hooked back up and no spark. no spark anywhere.
tried a different coil that I no to be good and still same thing.
I guess I am asking where does the spark come from and where does it travel on its way to the plugs?

I repladced the fuel filter, tfi modual, distributer, coil, plugs, wires, and put sea foam in the gas tank becasue the truck would run fine from a cold start but would begin to miss bad after it warmed up. that seemed to fix that problem and I drove it now for 3 days since with no problem. I had water in the system when it broke down so now that I had it fixed I wanted to get some antifreez in it. I was just letting it idle while I topped off the coolent and it just dies to never start again. could something be friying my tfi moduels or could I just have gotten a bad one

depends where u bought it, i got a autozone one it lasted 2 years, usually a coil will give problems when engine is up to tempature. I learned this years ago with my chevette,after getting pissed off i smashed the windshield, then when i went home i decided to change the coil and never had trouble again. Also had this issue with my quads and always when it would die with engine up to temp, it was a coil.
