The old starter and bendix finally called it quits and now I need to find a replacement. I think the local NAPA can hook me up with a new starter motor, but I don't know where I can find a new bendix drive. The old one is really worn out and needs to be replaced. For example, sometimes it stays stuck in the engaged position (like shown in pictures below), and some of the ratchet teeth are also broken...

Spring on Bendix is worn, the reason is stays engaged sometimes.
B6C11350A .. Bendix Drive (Motorcraft SD9)
Since NAPA can cross Motorcraft partnumbers over to the brands they sell, I'd try getting the drive from them, before paying a premium price from one a the obsolete parts dealers.
That same starter and B-drive was used on cars/trucks from 1956 thru 1964.
Besides Miller Obsolete (800-546-7278) in Binghamton NY, Green Sales (800-543-4959) has 4, McDonald's Obsolete Parts in Rockport IN (812-359-4965) has 2 and Dennis Carpenter (704-786-8139) has 2.
I just called up the local NAPA store and they have a new starter motor for $65.69.
I also looked on Dennis Carpenter's website, and they have the Bendix drive for $25 + $10 shipping. Seems to be the cheapest around, and from a good name too!
How much was Miller asking for them ??? The reason I mentioned them and nobody else is they are closest to you.
As for the rest of the starter...I would keep it...typically all thats replaced by rebuilders is brushes and if you are lucky bearings...alternators are the same too...brushes are real cheap...typically under 10 bucks and easy to install...

Reason: added info...
Well, it turns out that the truck lives to fight another day!
I went to pick up the new starter from NAPA and it came with a brand new bendix drive already installed! I hightailed it home, threw it in the truck, and it cranked over and started flawlessly. In fact, it turns over faster than before and fires quicker.
I actually came very close to calling them up and returning it, thinking that I would just buy a used 292 that had a starter on it for the amount I was about to spend for both the starter and bendix. Plus then I'd have a motor to rebuild on the side...
What's with the ridiculous difference in price?

My question too!! I just bought one for my 64 last week. Last time I replaced the starter on this thing it cost me $19.95 at Kragen ... now they are up to $100 or more depending on where you get one! I did get mine through Mac's.
