Hello I'm New

As the title says I am new here and I was hoping for some information and help. I have a 1978 Thunderbird and I have a 351M in it. I would like to give it a little more power. I do not have very much money and I would really do not want to tear into the engine. This is the original engine and it has never been rebuilt. It has 184,000 miles on it and I do not want to damage the engine and rebuild it until I have to. It runs well and it only has a small amount of lifter tap. I was also hoping that maybe someone might have a vacuum diagram for my engine. I might be able to afford exhaust and intake and a camshaft timing set.

Thanks in advance,
Scott Williams

P.S. If anyone is wondering my username is my plate number.

Asuming you have around 8:1 compression you will have this estimated results with the parts i mentioned:

hp:
317@5000

torque:
380@3500

hmmm not bad...

1.) Intake , carb, headers
2.) Add camshaft
3.) TMI 400 crank and pistons to go to 400. Recondition the stock rods.
4.) Big money
5.) My motor(See item 4)

Thank you everyone who posted. The reason that I asked about cheaped options is beacuse I have very little money and I need the car to be down as little time as possible as it is my daily driver. One reason I do not want to get into the crankshaft and pistons is beacuse of money and since the engine runs so well I do not want to mess with the bottom until I must. All in all I must admit I would rather keep it a 351 instead of switching it to a 400, just to be different I guess. Once again thank you everyone.

Scott
