my 98 5.4l has been acting up lately
first set a p0171 and p0174 code hesitating and missing bad
found the pcv hose vaccum leak now that code is gone (cleared the computer and it never came back)
then have a p0102 (maf sensor/low circuit output) put on a new maf sensor and it still studders and stumbles
it also studders around 50-60 mph
there is a funny knocking noise coming fro mthe top of the motor
could the egr valve be causing my miss and funny knocking noise?
You first might want to take a look at the cam sensor as the problem. It's driven off the cam and controls injector timing. If it's cracked or broken this could explain the sound you're hearing and it will also make the engine stumble.
where is the cam sensor located?
would it cause the knocking, pinging sound that im hearing.........after i shut the truck off the egr makes a funny noise and i tapped it a couple times and the sound changed everytime i hit it
could spark plugs cause this?
or would it throw a misfire code?
would the egr valve make is miss and stumble real bad when i floor it (after it hits about 60 and goes into overdrive
would the egr valve make is miss and stumble real bad when i floor it
Yes, if the EGR is slightly open you will get a lean condition. A lean condition under heavy acceleration will cause pinging, misfires, and lack of power.
