My 95 f-150 is a 2wd. I've been pondering whether or not to install 4wd or not. I've done a lot of mods to my truck, mostly small ones. It is in near new condition (literally, except for wear). Ive done a little homework. I'm not sure if i want a TTB or if i want a solid axle. Is the TTB really that bad, i've heard that alignment is a problem with them. I'm sure TTB would be much easier to install from a donor truck. What kinda problems am i running into? I think i've learned this much, need an adapter for the TC to the tranny (mazda), need a TC, need the TC crossmember, and driveshaft. How does it hook up to the cab? There isnt anything usable on the 2wd is there? Can i use the same brakes? I've also got an 88' f-250 with leaf springs in the front, would anything work from that?

The TTB is a pain all around, from lifting to installing,, there are so many angles and such that have to be just right or the whole front end will be off.
Gonna have to say try someone like advance adapters if you INSIST
on a TTB. 4wheelparts.com sells conversions I think.
Go with the solid front end. I was frustrated just installing my lift. Go with the solid front end.

So then i should go with a solid axle. How should i go about doing that, get a good one from the junkyard or would it be more wise to buy new? Would that kit from Fabritech work at all?

If I were you I would just buy another 4x4 truck, Use it for what ya want. I have a 2 wheel drive mint 84 F150 and I only drive it in the summer and I bought an 86 F150 4x4 to use for wheeling and such which I drive in the winter.
If you really want to do the conversion then buy an F250 4x4 to use as a donor truck, this way you have all the parts right there. Or you can buy an F250 4x4 and then swap the body over to the 4x4 and put the other body on the 2 wheel drive and sell it. Good Luck
When you say parts from a 250, what years? Would an 88 250 superduty work? The body on that truck is rotting to #####, the engine is fairly shot, lot of things starting to go wrong with it. But the suspension and other components are fine, 4x4 was hardly used but kept. I bet there isn't more than 700 miles on that 4x4 system and we live in new england.

if you want your 2wd to 4wd i would go ahead and make it solid, ive always heard that its easier to do when you do that swap. to do the solid front you need all the front end off of a 78-79 bronco or a 73-79 f150. a lot of people say that the fabritech kit is great, but i am doing it that way, takein the front end off of an older truck and just bolting it on, it seems easy enough to me. plus the fabritech kit is 1800 just for the mounting stuff, for that much you could get everything you need from a junk yard. so thats the route i plan on takein, but im not giong to do it untill my front end dies from massive 4wheelin.
Swap the body from your truck to the F250 and put a body lift and such on it when your doing it. It would be really cheap to do if you are able to do it yourself. The Box is simple the cab is the tough part. What is the running gear, engine trans, etc... like on the F250?
250 has an 8 footer, i have a 6 footer, never would do that anyway. My trucks frame and suspension are in NEW condition, there is a picture in my gallery, and my engine is fine. The 250s engine is about gone, the frame and everything is starting to get some serious surface rust and the body is rotting (good ol new england). I'm thinking of the TTB or the solid axle from the 73-79 f-150s or broncos. I don't plan on doing much off roading in this truck, its more for snow than anything. Its just that my truck is in the best shape i've ever seen a truck my age and its my first rig (i'm 17) , i dont want to get rid of it. I do a lot of work to it that normal people are to busy to do. Last summer, with a wire brush on a buffer and grinder, i got rid of any surface rust on the frame and suspension. Then, I painted the axle, suspension, frame, and body BY HAND with a 2" brush, in my driveway. Thats how long i want to keep this truck. I was looking at that fabritech stuff and that is just way to expensive. Right now it has a 4 inch lift and 32s, i wouldn't go any higher then that, its as high as i want for lift. I can deal with alil lift from the 4x4 though. I love my truck, its awesome, my only gripe with it is that its not a 4wd truck. Its much cheaper to buy a 2wd, and since my dad has the 4x4 88' i didnt think i needed it. But, its a year later and i'm a little wiser. It has a limited slip, so it's traction isn't that bad. Any off roading i do would be very minor, just enough to play in the mud alittle and have a good time without scratching the paint. There really isn't a good place to wheel around me anyway. So what are the main problems with a TTB, just the alignment? What causes these alignment problems, and why wouldn't an aftermarket company try to fix it? Is it really only a problem when serious off roading and large wheels come into play? Thanks for all your help guys.
