I know I have posted on this before but I was thinking about new wheels again the other day. I was looking on craigslist and found a guy with some wheels for sale and had the OEM center caps with them. Has anybody else ever been able to use factory centers with their aftermarket wheels? Anybody know what type of wheel I need to look for, or type of lug to be able to do this? I know the factory centers are held on by the lug and the factory wheels are hub centric which a hub centric wheel is becoming a PITA to find. My whole main problem is with the center caps. I dont want to have to remove my cap to lock my hubs.(If only I could keep the ESOF hubs working). Any help with this would be appreciated.
I should have added that basically all decent looking wheels I'm finding are 17" and up, and I want to stick with 16". Not looking for anything real fancy.
On old Weld Wheels you could use the factory center cap and lug nuts. I think you had to trim them a little with a dremel, can't remember....been a while.
Hub-centric really limits your choices on wheels.....but are the best route to go, IMO.
I've ran 4 sets of Welds (hub-centric) over the years.
The new one piece Welds (that the factory cap doesn't work on) have open caps as an options that fit well with the factory hubs.
