Question Camshaft position sensor? Help!

Pickup died this morning on way to an appointment put it in neutral bumped it over and it started but i had to step on the throttel a bit. Not thinking much about it other than oh well there is another 25.00 dollar crankshaft sensor no big deal. Got home on the end of a hook grabed the preadator scaned and I thought it said crank sensor did not have glasses on at this time.
Much to my surprise after putting in the new crankshaft sensor no fire it cranks & smokes but no go.
Hooked scanner back up and got my glasses and much to my dismay it said:
"Camshaft position sensor A circut intermintent bank 1 on single sensor"
Do these have a cam sensor as well an a crank sensor?
and if it has one where is it at????
Also if I smash the go pedal while cranking it over it will fire but anything below 15 on the tac & it dies.
Anybody had this one bite you in the butt yet?

Thks......Bill.

No, not yet. To my knowledge there is only a cam sensor. Any chance you pinched one of the wires when you changed it? Also, grey, blue or black one that you put in?

The CPS is your cam position sensor, some call it crank sensor, one and one only! If the CPS is going bad it either runs or it don't! Stepping on the go pedal and it fires you got other problems. Try puting elec. grease on the plug to the CPS. Also your UVC wires maybe coming apart or the wire bundle that goes over the valve cover may have rubed through!

Talking

After a few beers and a nap I went back outside hit the starter and the dam thing started! It blew out a bunch of white smoke smelt like un-burnt fuel let it idle for about 5 min then took it out and ran the snot out of it.
I dont know why but if it dies again I will start looking at the wire bundels.
Thanks guys......B.

I will have to add this step to my engine won't start troubleshooting guide. Step number one most likely.

Possible fueling issue? Maybe u picked up some debris in your recent fuel up. This happend to me and showed very similar symptoms. Wouldn't start the whole night, put some DK in it (dont know if that actually helped) but it fired up after trying about 10+ times and smoked hard white. Then ran fine - changed the fuel filter and its ran fine ever since. The problem was a bad fuel filter with bad fuel.

When my CPS failed, the tach didn't move. Just a thought. Good luck.
