So I took the muffler off my truck this weekend, and put a straight through resonator in place of it, I noticed that the down pipe from the turbo is only 3 inch. Was thinking on changing to a 3.5 inch pipe so my whole system will be 3.5. I figure its gotta help performance and the sound too. Was wondering if I should remove the resonator as well. Thanks.

If I were going through the trouble to change the downpipe, I would go with a 3.5 or 4" dp and 4 or 5" complete exhaust. You can get them fairly cheap. About 2-3X the cost of the down pipe alone. Shipping may be a little costly for you. Depends on what you want to do. Any muffler shops in your area?
Right now I'm just goin for cheap and easy and the best sound I can. Exhaust systems are expensive through local shops and it costs an arm and a leg to ship off ebay to N.S. Want to make my truck work good and sound good, relatively cheaply.
I guess it all depends on what you wanna do.... If you don't have gauges and only a 3.5" exhaust and are running a chip, you run the risk of super high egt's. 4" is def.the way to go if you plan on a chip, but if you wanna stay relatively stock, the 3.5" will be fine. Just gotta plan ahead
Oh I'll be goin 4" later on. Building a house at the moment and everything else is on the back burner. Just wanna make some noise and have a little more pull. I don't have gauges or a chip...yet
