just bought my 1st diesel truck and need to know a few things and also some ideas of what to do. its a 1999 f250 extended cap 4x4, 7.3,xlt with 170,000 miles. i already purchased stacks for it which will be going on in a week or 2. i have a set of 33'' x10.5 all terrains for it but im not sure if they will clear with stock suspension. i got some more money to spend on the truck and want to make it nice. planning on getting new grill, chrome door handles and tow mirrors, fog lights, and maybe a chip. now for the questions. will the 33's fit on the truck with stock suspension? is there a emmitions test for diesel? if so will a cat with 5'' stacks back pass? whats a good brand chip? good brand radiator? any ideas or input would be great.
285/75R16's fit the stock suspension, and they are just about 32.8 inches tall and 11.2 inches wide. (285 millimeters wide, divided by 25.4 millimeters per inch, equals 11.22 inches wide).
You have to check with your state's DMV to see what needs to be done for an inspection. Stop by your local inspection station
do get gauges before you buy a chip, and if you get a chip do it right the first time and get either a TS Chip W/Tony Wildman tunes or a DP Tuner. Both are about as good as you can get a for a 7.3.
As far as emissions testing that depends on where you are. For a chip for the 7.3 contact Jody or Diane with DP Tuner. A link to their website is on the left. For a bigger intercooler you could swap it out with the 6.0 intercooler. Here is a link where someone did the swap: PowerstrokeDatabase.com :: 6.0 Liter Intercooler Swap For The 7.3 If you want bigger and badder check out Spearco.
