Right side Overhead Cam

Is it possible to remove this without removing the engine? It is a SOHC, 4.0L, V6, 2001 FOrd Ranger 4x4

Yes, you can remove them without taking out the engine, but be sure to get a shop manual before you do, there are a lot of specs and measurments that have to be just right when putting it back together

Maybe I am wrong, but I dont think the cam can be removed and reinstalled when the engine is still in the vehicle. I just got done putting one of the 4.0 sohc motors in and I dont see how that is going to happen. The cam chain for the right (passenger) side camshaft is on the firewall side of the engine. I can tell you this though, it would be much easier just to pull the engine out. It only takes about 2 hours to pull it.
