...so I thought I may get a hit (or get hit) here.
Ok, I've searched until my 'nuff locker is full. I have an '06 Lariat CC diesel with factory Mach(?) radio. I don't see any model info on the unit except CD-6 by the CD slot. The unit does have an AUX button. I have ordered a PIE FRD04-POD/S (returns are allowed ). My question is how to tell if this head unit is SAT-ready or not. Am I going to get the iPod control through steering wheel and head unit (the FRD04-POD/S is capable of this), or am I only going to end up with an expensive AUX headphone jack connector?
Oops. I wasn't as clear as I shoulda been. I'm trying to hook up the iPod to my stock radio. PIE has a couple of adapters, one using the iPod headphone jack and the radio AUX connector on the back. The PIE I have goes a step further. If the radio is SAT-ready, I can control the iPod through the radio buttons and see limited track, artist, etc. info on the display. I'm wondering if the stock '06 Lariat 6-CD changer radio is SAT-ready, or if the adapter will work. I'm going to install it later when it cools down a bit, but I was just wondering if anyone has done this before.
I believe I have the same radio as you in my SD. I do not believe it will display the IPOD information on the radio. About the only thing you can do in regards to the IPOD is, using the steering wheel radio controls or buttons on the radio, is toggle through the various radio functions (ie: am, fm, dvd, cd, aux). Hopefully, you have the PIE adapter that has a gain control on it. Sometimes you lose volume when using the PIE with an IPOD or Sat. receiver. The gain control allows you to compensate for this.
