Cat conversion

Has anyone ever heard of putting a Cat in a Ford 700?
I have a guy trying to sell me a trailer pulling truck.
Its got a Cat engine and tranny "sitting" in it.
I wonder how hard it would be to make it work?

Cummins or Caterpillar were (and still are) a factory option in the heavier trucks.

This truck used to have a gas engine in it.

Some came with the 3208. Is that what it has? They're pretty good on fuel.

Indeed, the 3208 was a factory option, most commonly coupled to an Allison auto.

if it is a 3406, that is a mighty big engine for that small truck.

the common Cat engine to find in a F800 is either a 3208 for a pre 90's truck, or either a 3116 or 3226 for a newer truck.

Wow, as said before, a 3406 is mighty big for an F700. That's almost like putting a DT466 in a pickup

That would definatly be one hell of a f700 with a 3406 in there. Keep your eyes on the 3406b models, as they have a bad rep.
00!
Man alot of those 3406's that came from highway tractors had over 400 horse in them, thats alot of power for an f700!!.

I bet thats what it is ............he said over 400 hp.
I think ill go get some numbers off the engine.

Look for a serial number at the valve cover or on the block on the right side rearward of the oil cooler. Could be a 3406a,3406b,3406c,3406e, All good motors if set up right. S/N will start out 92u or 4mg,9ck,1lw 5ek.One thing you need to know is the s/n of the engine then i can tell you more.
